After today's quiz (Sept 25) we began working on the STSE on Drugs and Homeostasis (handout in class). Students began answering q #1 on clinical depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
Thursday and Friday's classes - finishing group work on the disorders of the nervous system; correcting objective 9 (parts of the brain) and 12 (spinal cord and brain injuries)
Fun Friday - know your brain and find some pros and cons of marijuana for medicinal purposes (check STSE) (objective 19)
October 6, 2013 - Homework over the weekend was objective #21 (define parts of the eye) and the diagram on eye structures. As of today's today, we have completed and corrected objectives 1-16, and 18 & 19. This week we will be covering #17, the objectives on the eye (20-24) and perhaps start the ear.
Important dates: Wednesday, October 16 - Day 1: Quiz #2 on objectives 1-3; 8-9; 12, 16-17
The quiz will be 15 multiple choice. Don't forget to take a look at diagrams where applicable.
Friday, October 25 - Test #1 - Chapter 12 (Objectives 1-28)
October 13, 2013 - This weeks topics will include objectives 24-28 (finishing the eye and ear).
October 22, 2013 - all objectives are online as of today. Don't forget to refer to your notes AND your text as you prepare for Test #1. Check your diagrams as well.
October 28- Nov 1 Objectives on Endocrine System (working on 1-5: 1 & 3 I will provide information for; 2, 4, & 5 you will compile your own notes from the text/video clips in class - we will go over key points during class.

Lab #2 (diabetes) should have been passed in by MONDAY of last week (Nov 19)
Nov 29 - Covered up to Objective 10 in slots B and C (working on 9 in A and finishing off 8 in E) Homework for this section is on Obj #8 and 11 (refer to objective sheet in Chapter 14 section.
Jan 7 - Objectives 1-10 and #12 covered before Christmas in Chapter 15 - Human Reproduction (Unit 2). 1,3,6,8 & 12 had been set for homework. The others (2, 4, 5, 7, 9-10) were covered by me in class via notes/handouts. All objectives thus far (except #12) have been corrected in class and are in the process of being added to the website (See Chapter 15 page).
Test #2 was handed back and went through in class before Christmas break. Those who did not write their test on test-day will be late receiving theirs back.
All supplementary assignments passed in before Christmas will be ready for pickup by Thursday this week. Feel free to take your projects home to study!
Menstrual Cycle labs are due Wednesday (Slots A, B, C) and Thursday (Slot E). Correcting will begin this weekend on those.
All notes for midterm have been added to the site as of Jan 21. Don't forget to check the websites and videos section for topics in which you need to review! Student projects is a great place to look too - these are electronic versions of supplementary assignments completed by people in any slot of 3201.
Started Unit 3 this week - Mendelian Genetics. Objective sheet is under the Ch 16 tab above. Spent a lot of the week on Objective 4, which outlines Mendel's research. Starting punnett squares by Friday Feb 7. Only homework this week was Objective #3. Objective 1 & 4 has been covered via notes and a class handout (see website).
Quiz coming up next week (Fri, Feb 28) for all slots except C. C-slot quiz will be on Monday, March 3. Slots C & E have begun two-trait punnett squares (objective 5B).

Reminder that anyone that did not write his/her test on "test day" and hadn't made prior arrangements, need to bring a parent note indicating that the parent was aware a test was missed the day their son/daughter was absent before the test is returned.
Test #4 - Tuesday, April 15. On Modern Genetics Objectives 1-14; and Molecular Genetics Objectives 1-7. Note that on the "Biology 3201 - DNA Replication" handout, you will only be tested to the end of the initiation section.
Test 4 has been returned. E-slot will receive theirs on Tuesday, May 6.
Test 5: Friday May 16 for B, C, and E slots. A slot test is Tuesday, May 20 (unless otherwise arranged with me). Test isve 7 on molecular genetics, objective 7 onwards, and all objectives in Genetics: Implications.
